We are pleased to announce the release of our first 2010 title, Call Mother a Lonely Field, on 9 March. Nuala Ní Dhomhnail describes this work: ‘In this perfect gem of a memoir Liam Carson invites us into an Irish-speaking family home that was a bastion against the evils of imperialism, both cultural and material. Like Hugo Hamilton’s The Speckled People, this memoir is a must-read.’ Click here to learn more about this title or read an extract. Details of the launch will be posted here shortly.

April will see the release of a novella by Melanie Westerberg. Peter Orner, author of The Second Coming of Mavala Shikongo, says: ‘Melanie Westerberg has written a wondrous first book. The writing is unique and brave, and the story is as engaging as it is harrowing. It’s the sort of rare, completely original book I am always looking for and never finding.’ Click here to learn more about this title or read an extract.

As always, we'd also like to remind book clubs based in Belfast, Galway, Dublin, Limerick or Tralee that our authors are available to appear in person. For book clubs based elsewhere, authors are happy to participate in telephone discussions of their work. Please email info@hagsheadpress.com for more information.
